On Tuesday 20th April we had the pleasure of welcoming Cormac and Daryl of the Wolf Academy to Dundalk Youthreach. Both brothers from the start had an instant connection with our students through there calm, genuine and warm personalities, and from this both began to share their stories with us.
Daryl talked about his problems with addiction, how they were not the relief to issues going inside his head, he then spoke of his journey to becoming drug free, and how fitness/a good routine is key to a clear head, Cormac spoke about how he felt he was living the life he had to live i.e. doing a good leaving cert, going to college and getting a good job. Cormac spoke in length about this and how from the outside it looked like he had everything, but on the inside he didn’t. Again, he wasn’t dealing with his mental health issues he was just covering them up. He then also spoke about his personal journey which helped him deal with his issues. This is just a taster of what they spoke about, by bringing them into your school or centre you will get the full story, which leaves a long last impressing with the students.
Here in Dundalk Youthreach we have seen the impact that the brothers have left with our students, they still talk about them and their message. Lots of them read Cormac’s book which they said was amazing.
Thanks so much to Cormac and Daryl for coming to Dundalk Youthreach, the staff and I could not recommend them enough, the best talk we have had in a long time. The way they connect with young people is remarkable and they leave them with a strong message, tools/techniques of how to deal with issues and lastly, they show them there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again for an amazing talk and we can’t wait to welcome you back to Dundalk Youthreach.
